Challenging climbs
Serra de Monchique has some of the most spectacular climbs in Europe – the Fóia (highest point in the Algarve, with 902m of altitude) or Picota, a chilling 2 km long climb - and panoramic views to leave you speechless. Volta ao Algarve is famed for attracting exceptional cyclists from across the globe, who all come to experience the exhilarating 196km to the Picota.
Inimitable nature
Nature lovers will find, in the Serra de Monchique, a unique biodiversity unmatchable - both in fauna and flora - and extraordinary landscapes - from the streams that rickle down the mountain to the panoramic view, with a 360 degree perspective.
Road or trail?
Those who want to climb the Serra de Monchique by cycling have two options: you can do it by road or, alternatively, follow one of the several off-road trails that have been mapped out, such as Via Algarviana. Furthermore, if you want more information about the trails and what would be best for your proficiency – the dedicated hotel team are on hand to assist with all queries.
